2020 Impact and Appreciation

With our dedicated Board of Directors, Citizens and Partners, 2020 turned out better than expected given our covid-19 challenges.  

In addition to the above:

  • KACB Lead the development of Covid-19 Safety Field Protocols that other groups are using, as well. 
  • Passed out 1500 KACB reusable grocery bags
  • Maintained our Keep Texas Beautiful Silver Star Affiliate Status
  • Awarded - GCCA's 3 Year's of Excellence award '17-'20
  • Recognized by the Aransas County Navigation District

Cleaned up shoreline damage from Hanna - 2 weeks post hurricane:

  • Fulton Beach Road
  • Broadway Little Bay Road
  • Little Bay shoreline at Rockport Fairgrounds

Covid-19 Safety Protocols Developed

Worked with Chemical Plant's Safety Engineer to come up protocols.  Other groups have used them and tweaked them for their own programs.

A bad area with debris year round blowing from boats and truck beds that come to those boat ramps into important Saltwater Tidal Flats.

GCGV employees joined us again along with Mid-Coast Tx Master Naturalists to cleanup the 2 important Colonial Bird Nesting Islands in Little Bay and the Shoreline.

Students were keen on cleaning up this area given that it is the main watershed affecting Little Bay.

As we drive the county, if we see persons cleaning up on their own, we award them local Gift Cards to area restaurants to thank them!

Met Our Monetary Goal for the Blue Crab Sculpture!

We gave our 1500 KACB Grocery Bags to local citizens to encourage reusable shopping bag use rather than plastic grocery bags.

$135,000 was the goal to get it built by prominent sculptor, Joe Barrington.  We still need around $12,000 for lighting, benches, etc.
